This panel investigates risk at the intersection of institutions and the internet. To build a collective framework of online ethics for museums, we must first consider the frictions between risk and benefit between institutions and individuals. Panelists from various perspectives share how safety and agency vary across platforms and demographics, discrepancies between museums embracing values in spirit versus in practice, and responsibilities of museums for stewarding public agency and consent.
