Sarah Cowan is a content producer specializing in video production. She is (very newly!) the Senior Video Producer at The Museum of Modern Art leading the video team there. Previous she was a Producer/Editor in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Digital Department's Content team where she directed and produced
Met Stories, an award-winning, year-long video series made on the occasion of the Met’s 150th anniversary, and has produced various videos and editorial features include
MetCollects and Conservation Stories. Previously, she was a video editor and cinematographer at the Met, and she has worked on a broad range of short- and long-form videos for web, social media, exhibitions, marketing, and events, including the award-winning series
The Artist Project. Her freelance writing on art, film, and books has appeared in various publications, including
The New York Times, The New Yorker Culture Desk, New York Review Daily, The Paris Review, Bookforum, and
The Brooklyn Rail. She is currently working on an independent experimental documentary with Stephanie Wuertz on the legacy of nineteenth-century American painter Albert Pinkham Ryder.
